Jakarta to Have the First Sport Science Laboratory in Indonesia This Year

Sooner or later, the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) is about to have the first integrated sports science laboratory in Indonesia. It will be operated at the Student Sports Training Center (PPOP), Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

Achmad Firdaus, Head of Jakarta Dispora said that the laboratory would have state-of-the-art technology facilities that was able to monitor and measure the health condition, performance, including the psychology of the coached athletes.
"Sport science is the application of several supporting sciences with the aim of increasing sports achievement. This scientific and technological support is needed for training athletes," he expressed, Tuesday (4/6).
Dispora Coaches 568 Athletes with DisabilitiesHe explained that it focused on researching aspects of physiology, psychology, nutrition, biomechanics and athlete management. He continued, a comprehensive study in this laboratory was very important to form and produce tough athletes thus they could can make Jakarta proud in the national to international arena.
"Besides measuring physical, this is also biomechanics and psychological, all integrated to assess the figure of an athlete. We can monitor athletes' endurance in high technology, including its progress," he continued.
He added it was not only for the PPOP student athletes but also coached athletes in Jakarta. The agency had injected a budget of Rp 140 billion for the laboratory.
"It is targeted to be operated in the upcoming October 2021. Hopefully it will be able to create many outstanding athletes in Jakarta," he hoped.
